in the swing of things

As I mentioned last week, it's taking a little while to get back into the swing of things with work and the new baby. But thankfully, we're starting to get into a good routine and settling into our new normal. One thing I haven't quite mastered yet is dressing post baby. Nothing fits the way it used to, and I'm packing some extra pounds post baby. More to love, I suppose, but it's been making dressing a bit challenging. I was tempted not to post this outfit, honestly, it's not one of my favorites, but it's what I wore in real life and I figure it's only fair to share the failures as well as the successes.

I've been struggling with the temptation to hate on my appearance recently. The tired eye bags, the extra pounds, the fact that everything is just sort of soft and squishy at the moment. But I keep reminding myself to be kind to my body and remember the amazing thing it just did - creating a human is no joke. I've been bad about comparing myself to other women who have a baby and a few weeks later look like they haven't given birth at all. And then I stress about the fact that feel like I still look six months pregnant. No hate for those fabulous mommas, but it's okay that it takes some of us bit longer than others to "bounce back." Things are going to be a bit different post baby and there's nothing wrong with that. :)

Though I'm not sold on this outfit, I do love this swing dress...it's so cozy and comfy and I like that it hits right at the knee. I could see wearing it with a long cardi or even with a denim jacket and sandals this spring. If winter wasn't pretty much done for in Florida, I think it'd look cute with a puffer vest and blanket scarf. C'est la vie, I'll have to file that idea away for next year.

    1. Thanks! They had this necklace at J. Crew Factory for the longest time. I was there a few weeks ago and they still had it in store, but sadly it's no longer online. :(
